I have decided that the only way I am going to get reports and papers written is to use bribery a reward system for myself. So here's the plan. After I write a substantial amount on a paper or report I will allow myself time to blog or knit. I wrote a report, so here is my reward--blogging time. I have almost completed the first foot of yet another pair of footies. I love knitting and wearing Cascade Fixation. 
Here is the progress I've made on the happy valley throw. I am finding that my needles want to pick up little loops on the boucle and treat them like stitches, making my throw grow quicker than it should. My sons and husband bought this rabbit in Old City in Philadelphia (click on the photo to get a good look at him). We lived in Philly during my internship and then my son did an internship and lived in Old City. I love Philly. This rabbit brings back the wonderful memories I have of Philly, the city, the food, and the people. (sigh)

Beauty in Nature
My SP (Sweetie Pie, otherwise known as DH--dear husband) and I arrived at the cottage on Sunday evening after having a wonderful brunch with family on Sunday and a lovely wedding of some friends on Saturday evening--you know, one of those weddings that was planned in a meaningful, tender, loving way. There is nothing like a touching and moving ceremony to set off the tears and love in everyone. It was a great party, too! With the love of our family and friends we arrived at our cottage in good spirits, and then the weather was BEAUTIFUL.
Balmy breeze and sunny skies made kayaking perfect. We bought a kayak that can use pedals or paddles, so exercising upper body and lower body can be accomplished on the water. Who can resist exercising that includes sunny skies and water? 
I like to use the paddle to give my arms a good workout. See? Here's proof:
While our granddaughters were visiting I went ice skating for the first time since I was twelve. Yes, it was quite a while ago . . . however, it was loads of fun and I did not fall down once. My oldest granddaughter and I played a game where she threw a hockey glove, I skated to pick it up, and then I threw it back to her. Ah, yes, maybe skating lessons will be next. It was really fun, and good exercise too. Here is a little blurry photo of our victory skate. 
On the knitting front I have Dianna No. 4 ready to block (but I forgot my blocking pins at home so I'll have to buy some before I can proceed), two pair of footies knitted for my granddaughters
, and my afghan is almost done! It is amazing that I have been knitting since Memorial Day weekend 2004, and by picking up an unfinished project and working on it it, I can really see how much I have progressed over time! I have more confidence, feel less worried about making a mistake or otherwise goofing up my project, and I knit A LOT faster. It's a great feeling! I am sooo excited to finish it.
