I finished the Blue Heron shell! It is a long, sordid tale. Here is the shortened version: I knit, I frogged, I re-knit, and it FITS! Here are the stats:
Pattern: Evening Shell, Vogue International Holiday 2004
Yarn: Blue Heron Metallic, Rayon & Metallic
Color: Macaw
Needles: US 8
Tension: 19.5 sts. per 4 inches
I had mixed feelings about knitting the shell with Blue Heron Metallic because it drapes rather than holds its shape. Also, having knit it in a size for a linebacker the first time, then having to rip it out and re-knit it did not help my feelings about the project. On the hand, I love the gold flecks in the yarn. This yarn does not photograph well--it is really much prettier in person--not so harsh looking. I am sure I will be able to wear this top with jean, white or black pants. I hope the weather stays warmer for just enough time for me to wear this little beauty. I LOVE to make projects that fit and look good. Because so much yarn comes in a large hank (550 yards), I will have enough to knit a wrap. I am looking for wrap patterns that might work with this yarn. Any ideas? Any ideas for anything else? We are driving back to the camp this weekend. My SP and I cannot get enough of summer and the camp. I hope to kayak, knit, and relax. Have a good weekend!
