It looks like summer has ushered in fall in Michigan, and I am ready to pack up and move south . . . .but I will not be so lucky until December when I fly to Grand Cayman for some fun, sun, and diving, and of course, knitting.
Having finished
several of my WIPs, I have started a long-awaiting project, the “wrappy
jacket,” (see Skinny Rabbit's knitted wrappy jacket Gallery, 2005) but I have decided
to knit Coraline using Phildar Auteuil that has been waiting in my stash since
I bought it in Lyon, France the spring of 2005. The pattern I was going to knit was Gilet
pattern 1 from Phildar's Automne Tendances 05, but I think Coraline will fit much better and I will get more use from it. The yarn is an acrylic/wool blend that will wash up easily. What do I love about Phildar? Well, the store signage is pretty cool, I love the store
even though no one speaks much English in the store I frequent and I speak
little French, I love the displays, and well, frankly I LOVE LYON, FRANCE. If I ever disappear, look for me in
Lyon.
Ok, back to knitting. I am going to modify Coraline so there will be a garter "hem" and garter stitch on the sleeve and now narrowing by the wrists. To me the hem looks a bit bulky and I do not like puffy sleeves. I have not modified a pattern before and this is just a bit, so I hope it works. That is all for now. Gedifra is finished. I just need to find a shawl pin and a shirt to wear under it and I will put up photos. It feels so great to get some of these projects finished!
